Description

We’ve been crafting antique replica convex glass, also known as bubble or domed glass, since the 1970s. Our stock includes a variety of antique and modern sizes, including oval convex glass, which fits any frame we produce, though it’s most popular with our Vintage Collection frames.

Measuring Convex Glass

Oval convex glass is measured by length and width, across the glass (not around the bend). Depth typically ranges from 3/4" to 1", but deeper bends are available. We stock many antique sizes, including the Oval 13 1/2" x 19 5/8", with most not requiring custom bending fees.

Custom Sizes

We offer 15 standard sizes of oval convex glass, plus custom bending up to 20" x 24". For custom sizes, simply send a paper tracing of your measurements. Delivery takes 3-4 weeks after we receive your tracing.

History of Oval Convex Glass

In the late 1800s to 1940s, oval frames were popular, and many photographs were printed with a convex curve. Today, we replace broken convex glass in these antique frames, preserving these family heirlooms.

Uses of Convex Glass

Oval convex glass is used for framing convex photographs, as well as in clocks, gauges, and other instruments.

Deep Convex Glass or Acrylic Domes?

For deeper items, we offer oval acrylic domes, ranging from 2.5" to 7" in depth, fitting all our frames.

Explore our selection of oval convex glass and replacements to enhance your frames with timeless elegance.

Victorian Glass Saves the Day for 100 Yr old Picture

Posted by Unknown on 17th Oct 2024

While helping hang pictures, a 100 Yr old family photo in oval frame curved glass picture slipped from my Granddaughter's hands and the glass shattered. Victorian Glass had the exact size curved glass in stock and promptly shipped one to me. They were the only source I could find. Thanks Victorian Glass. You saved the day!

    exactly what was needed

Posted by Judy Pedersen on 17th Oct 2024

The oddball dimensions were a clue that I'd likely found the bubble glass to fit the antique oval frame with picture. It went into the frame beautifully and now a family heirloom has taken it's rightful place on the wall. We'd almost given up finding one but this fit the bill to perfection. Thanks SO much.

    Bubble glass

Posted by Donna L Hopper on 17th Oct 2024

The glass is fine, I think. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to fit with my frame so I plan to take it to JoAnnes to talk to them about using the glass to frame my heirloom picture of my parents.
