Unique Decorations for the New Wedding Season

Fall has become of the most popular times of the year for couples to plan their nuptials. The crisp but not cold weather, the beautiful natural scenery and the minimal chance of rain for some parts of the country make it an ideal time to hold an outdoor ceremony or reception.

While floral bouquets and garlands will always be a timeless decor choice, harvest colors and decorations make for a beautiful and unique setting that any bride would dream of having. See below for some of most gorgeous and easy, pieces of decoration to make a fall wedding the envy of all spring brides.

Etched mirrors. Rustic or gold oval mirrors etched with the couple’s names or story make for a unique entryway decoration for the guests. Etching cream can be found at most hardware stores, and patterns can be found at any craft store. Etch the date, the venue name or even a small poem that captures the essence of the day.

Glam pumpkins and gourds. Using real or artificial gourds and pumpkins, add some Cinderella glamour by first painting them white or gold and add some sparkle with glitter to make an elegant and easy centerpiece. Pair small with big, and add a few to mantle pieces or stair steps to make them look very pulled together.

Picture frame menus. Using an antique frame, place an elegantly typed or calligraphed menu in the glass to put on the buffet table or near the bar for cocktails. This way your guests will be sure not to miss any of the carefully chosen meal you provided for them, or your specialty cocktail created just for you for the day.

Floating candle centerpieces. Using a long cylindrical clear vase, place stones or jewel pieces that are sure to sink at the bottom. Then stuff your favorite fall flower or leaves in the vase, and fill it halfway with water. Place a floating candle on top of the water to make for an elegant and easy centerpiece that will also provide the perfect soft candlelight glow for the reception dinner.

Leaf garlands and glow lights. Instead of using the traditional green or flower garland for staircases, make a fall leaf garland alternating red, orange and yellow leaves. Twist a strand of small clear twinkle lights around the garland to make it look like fireflies dancing through the leaves on the stairs.

Mason jars with ribbon for walkways. If you want a sturdy but rustic votive holder for your walkway, try putting small votive or tea candles in a ribbon-clad mason jar. Mason jars can be found at most craft stores, and the ribbon adds a touch of sweetness, plus is one more way to incorporate your wedding colors into the theme. Light the way for your guests to your fall wonderland, and dance the evening away.
